So This is the New Year...
My new year’s resolution this year is to quit texting and driving. We can all admit to doing a little of it here and there, but the bottom line to me is that it is just stupid. Most of the time, I am driving for only 20 minutes tops, so waiting 20 minutes is not that long of a wait to respond to a message. Even going through and looking for a song to play becomes a tedious task. With a wonderful device like the iPhone, it is really hard not to. However, there is a function where all you have to do is hold down the home button, and tell your phone what song to play; this really comes in handy. This feature even allows you to speak out and respond to any message. It is the case in New York State, that using any mobile cellular device to send and transmit messages, or even media, in any means is against the law and punishable up to a $150 dollar fine, along with 3 driver penalty points. It seems to primarily be a problem with this generation, though. Since the majority of us grew up with these electronic devices, and they are all coming out around the same time most of us have begun to start driving, it is obvious that this situation becomes a problem. However, if these laws will be continued to be enforced, then I do not think it will become a problem for the next set of generations. Heck, we are already starting to see systems in cars with hands free calling and texting. There are even some cars with built in Facebook options, where you can access your Facebook, hands free, while on the road. I will try my best to keep our roads safe, by not texting and driving!
